COVID 19 (CORONA) VIRUS UPDATE

Westbury Surgery will be closed from 20 Mar 2020 and all activities will run from Newnham. 

Westbury will be utilised by the FOD practices as a “HOT HUB” - this means that it will be run and manned by different GPs and will be for potential COVID 19 cases to be seen and assessed for further treatment.  Patients will be notified by their own surgery via a telephone triage system if they are required to attend this site – PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS TOLD TO BY A GP. 

We apologise for any inconvenience but hope that you appreciate that we are all working in very difficult times at present.

NEWNHAM SURGERY

As everywhere at the moment, we are running telephone appointments and patients will be assessed by the GP.  This is to reduce footfall and potential cross infection at the practice.  We are currently installing new software to enable us to contact you and see you on smart phones – much like “Face Time”, but we understand that many will not have this facility.

Collection of medication.  All medication will be transferred on 24th Mar to Newnham for patients who normally collect from Westbury (Pse note - we will maintain the same collection days for Westbury - Monday and Friday afternoons - this is due to keeping the dispensaries and stock separated at Newnham and due to maintaining minimum manning for social distancing purposes).  To further reduce potential risk of any viral contamination, we would ask patients to come to the Reception window outside and we will get a dispenser to see you – you will most likely then be directed to a window at the rear of the practice to collect your medication.

Please Note:  Repeat medication will only be provided for the normal 28 days supply - this is as per guidance we have received to protect the supply chain and the stocks of medication.  Please do not ask for 3 months supply as it cannot be provided.

None of these measures are intended to cause an inconvenience – more to ensure that the staff remain healthy for as long as possible and we can maintain a service.

It includes a certificate that can be provided to employers should you be required to provide some paperwork.
